Anything For Jackson: A Tale of Evil Yet Emotional Grandparents

Shudder is known for its horror movies, and 'Anything For Jackson' is a freshly-served movie. It follows an old couple, Audrey Walsh (Sheila McCarthy) and Henry Walsh (Julian Richings), who have lost their grandson (Jackson), and they can do anything to bring him back to life.

The movie introduces with a very sane way, where an aged couple is talking about dressing sense, and then suddenly, the other minute, they are insanely dragging a pregnant woman to their soundproof room. Yes, they kidnapped a pregnant woman. The couple is none other than Audrey & Henry. The pregnant woman is Shannon Becker (Konstantina Mantelos). Henry is a doctor himself. Shannon is his patient, she is a lonely person, and she doesn't even know the real name of the father of the unborn child because he has already gone. So she is an easy target for the aged couple.

After losing Jackson, Audrey & Henry began participating in satanic rituals. They spent all their retirement money on an ancient book of spells. This book contains a spell on how to bring dead people to life. They needed a host to bring Jackson back to life, so they used Shannon and her unborn to complete the ritual. But, it didn't work as they expected, and the couple began to experience sinister incidents. Unknowingly, they have unlocked the door to many ghosts.

Evil yet emotional grandparents' characters are effectively played by Audrey & Henry. Konstantina Mantelos also played a fine role as a pregnant woman. The fragile point of this movie was the expressionless character of Ian (Josh Cruddas), he didn't fit in that goofy character.

The various ghosts appearing in the house gave me a vibe of 'Murder House' of American Horror Story. Yet, the concept of this movie is original. The story isn't the scariest but refreshing. It may not end as you expect, there are twists and turns. 'Anything For Jackson' is a watchable movie if you're looking for more than just jump scares.
